Over the holidays, a friend gifted me with a "Wonderful Weekends" overnight stay voucher at the Makati Shangri-La Manila hotel. Initially, I thought of booking it on my birthday but after coming back from Korea during the Christmas break, I badly need a staycation.
I decided to book the voucher last February 17 to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY) 2018 and Valentine's Day as well.
Tip #1: To fully enjoy the Makati Shangri-la Experience, families that booked a Wonderful Weekend staycation may avail of the 10am check-in and 4pm check-out that means more quality time spent together with the whole family.
Horizon Club Lounge | Suite Weekend Escapade
Tip #2: If your room category is a Deluxe Suite, go directly to the Horizon Club Lounge on the 24th floor to skip the queue at the lobby check-in counter.
At 10am, there was no room available. So much for the early check-in time. Anyway, breakfast at the club lounge starts at 6:30am until 12nn. We were given a table so we can eat brunch while waiting for a room to become available.
Horizon Club Lounge benefits:

Tip #3: Go to Club Lounge at 3pm for some light snacks and refreshments

After eating brunch, we were informed that our room will be available at 1pm. We were temporarily given a Deluxe Room so my daughter can change in her bathing suit. You can view the rest of the room here.

She changed into her bathing suit but not after jumping up and down the bed. Staycations are really for kids. If she's happy, well, I am happy too!

My daughter was able to enjoy the swimming pool unlike the last time we stayed there. The kiddie pool is not deep so she is confident to swim on her own. Of course, DH and I were still there to supervise her.

Just right outside the bedroom door is this office table with an executive chair. Across it is the mini bar found below.

The next day, my daughter made it to the cookie decorating class at 3pm. She made it just in time before our check-out. She was looking forward to the activity. Just look at her smile!
Tipi aka Teepee | Play Area
After repeated requests, the tipi tent was finally delivered into our room later in the afternoon. My little girl had so much fun camping inside her very own tent.
Tip #4: Need some privacy? Book a second room for your children below 12 years old and enjoy 50% discount on the prevailing Best Available Rate.
